Hi, congratulations.

We had One more step along the world I go and Bind us together. Both nice uplifting hymns and pretty well known. Nothing worse than a church full of people humming along Grin

All things bright and beautiful, one more step and I can't remember the other.

I tried to go for joyful ones people knew as I hated weddings where dull songs (with meaningful lyrics) I didn't know the tune to seemed drag on for eternity.

Jerusalem, as requested by the best man, was a massive hit. Everyone belted it out. Also had morning has broken (I'm not a fan but my ILs wanted it as they had it at theirs) and I can't actually remember the last one! I really liked it though, it was uplifting... Damn!

How Great Thou Art
Love Divine All Loves Excelling (Blaenwern tune)
Cwm Rhondda (Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer)

And a couple of Welsh ones.

Congratulations!

Morning Has Broken, How Great Thou Art, and Sing Hosanna to finish!

I wanted One More Step but DH vetoed it!

I also thought about Shine, Jesus Shine.

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer and Lord of All Hopefulness. Other contenders were For the Beauty of the Earth and Brother, Sister, Let Me Serve You.

This is a great site, you can listen to all the popular ones and decide your favourite:

We had Lord of the Dance, and Jubilate (which isn't on there. this youtube version seems to involve lots of beer, which we didn't have until the reception!)

Give Me Joy in My Heart

We Plough the Fields and Scatter

lord of all hopefulness then
mine eyes have seen the glory then
give me oil in my lamp

We had Thine be the Glory, in memory of DH's Gran (He and his mum had a parody of it about her) it's also loud and cheerful and unashamedly religious.

and Hills of the North Rejoice, which is a favourite of mine. I was born in the hills of the north and brought up in the utmost west and my pagan edges like all the references in it to the natural world.

DH did suggest Fight the Good Fight and Through This Night of Doubt and Sorrow.

The Lord is my Shepherd

Be Still

Tell Out my Soul

I must admit I really cringe when people have kiddie ones that they remember from school assembly.

Praise my soul the King of Heaven, Make me a channel of your peace, and One more step (with personalised words!) Not outed myself at all there...

We had 'we pledge to one another' I love it. It is the same tune as I vow to thee my country but Different words, i love the words and they are perfect for a wedding.
We also had love divine and praise my soul the king of heaven.

We had a blessing at Xmas, we had love divine, praise my soul the king of heaven and we wanted a carol. Vicar recommended in the bleak midwinter for the line "I would give my heart" but I sobbed every time I sang it before hand so changed it to good king Wenceslas!

We had:

And can it be (that I should gain...)
Guide me o Thou great Redeemer
Alleluia Sing to Jesus

Three of the greatest hymn tunes ever written!
