Tablecloths are so expensive!!

Does anyone have any idea where I can get tablecloths from that don't cost the earth? Or an alternative? Obviously something that doesn't look cheap or tacky though!
We are on a very tight budget. Our reception is in a village hall with a village fete/festival theme.

The pound shop do 'real look' ones, or you could buy some material from somewhere cheap and cheerful and gem it yourself. We are renting ours!

Cheap polka dot fabric from the market or some where like Fabricland, hemmed if you have access to a sewing machine.

Fabricland seem to have plain polycottons for about £2.20-2.50 per metre.

We're using paper banqueting roll with a fabric runner down the middle for our barn wedding. The runners will all be mismatched, echoing the colours in the bunting we're making out of leftover kite fabric from a local flagmaker.
You are having a fete/festival theme, so why spend a fortune buying or hiring linens when you don't have those at a fete?

We hire out table cloths and always explain that the cost is mainly due to the high price of dry cleaning. Plus the fact we have to replace due to red wine spills!
If you are having rectangular tables may I suggest you buy king sized sheets from Asda and use them instead. They don,t look any different once the table is laid and you can use them as dust sheets when decorating afterwards.
Some of our brides buy coloured sheets to match their theme.

That's a great tip FnF. Thanks

I've bought 100m of banqueting roll from ebay for £18.50, we have the same theme so didn't want 'proper' tablecloths, as you don't get posh tablecloths at village fetes!!
