Clean a wedding dress

My wedding day was 3 years ago, today I found that cleaning my dress was overlooked in the post wedding days and I now want to have it cleaned so my daughter can wear it of she wants to when she is older. I didn't think I cared so tried it on this morning to my delight it still fitted and DD was stroking it and made me twirl round and round!

It is a deep cream silk, and it is covered with a second layer of lace with tiny diamanté studs hidden in the lace. Should I take it to a specialist to have it cleaned? The train is filthy and the bottom of the lace is as well.

As you know anything wedding related costs a bomb - even cleaning a dress. Around here a lot of the post offices and corner shops collect indian clothes for cleaning - lots have embroidery / lace / sequins so I'd be taking my dress to one of those places.

Most dry cleaners offer a wedding dress cleaning service but it usually costs upwards of £100

i took mine back to the shop who made it. They cleaned it, did some minor repairs and packaged it carefully for the future. It was included in the price of the dress. I'm sure it would be £££ to do, but worth it (think what you might save on a new dress for DD)!

I would ask the dress where you bought it. They usually know someone who can clean wedding dresses without a problem.

I checked the label in mine and it said it could be washed at 40 degrees so i bunged it in washer and it came out lovely. Xx
