OK, first dance is sorted....now for the second?

Hoping for some inspiration here! It took us ages to decide the music for our first dance, but we finally decided on "You do something to me" by Paul Weller. I'd like to follow it with a second slow dance for all the guests to join in with, but we're just totally out of ideas now.

Can anyone help with some suggestions that would follow on ok from the first dance? Thanks!

No, you need an upbeat floor filler. Build Me Up Buttercup usually does the job. Boring but true, opinion based on going to about 400 weddings in the last 10 years or so.

Oh, I feel your pain! We've been to tons as well. I guess I just thought that a slow dance might keep both men and women there for longer - if we go for a good cheesy floor filler I fear that it would just be the women up dancing and the men would disappear!

A slow 'first dance' goes on for ever and ever if you haven't primed several couples to join you on the dance floor after the first verse and chorus. If you do that, then lots will be up and dancing, and I agree with others, you then want to get into something a lot more upbeat to get the party going. Don't forget it's different from a normal evening party in that people will have already had a few drinks by then.

OK, you've convinced me! Sod the slow dances and move right on the good stuff!

Ruby, not really 400, probably nearer 25! A few years ago though, from April to September we never went more than 3 weeks without going to a wedding.
