OYBBK, how much longer will this heat go on? :-(

OYBBK I know you are not an oracle but you're the nearest thing we've got on Mumsnet.

I am 29 weeks pregnant and struggling with London daily commute and the general vileness of living in a terraced house with no garden and no AIR.

Do you think it can last much longer? I would like a biiiiig thunderstorm and then overcast cooler conditions please.

25-26 all week here. Which is too hot!

MrsPnut · 22/07/2014 16:45

I hope it's set to last for the next 6 weeks :o

I do have sympathy for the pregnant ladies though, I had DD2 in July 2006 which was a scorcher too.

We had 33c on the car thermometer at the weekend. We were promised a storm and I was eagerly waiting for it to arrive as per my weather app to nothing. For the first time in my life, I couldn't sleep properly because of the stifling heat; damn you Suffolk heat-trap!

I actually love the summer, but not being able to cool down a house with no carpet or flooring doesn't bode well.

(I think OYBBK's on holiday/busy with stuff this week so will a not-such-an-expert at chart-reading do?)

At the moment from what I can tell, there's no let up in the heat this week. There might be the odd (possibly thundery) shower over the weekend but no big thunderstorm to cool things down. Looking at next week (and this is a long time away when it comes to forecasting so it could all change in the next few days) Monday might be slightly cooler but other than that, there's no sign of a proper cooling down at the moment.

Hope I've got some of the above right and apologies to those that hate the heat ~ it looks like we're in for a warm week/10 days.

Part of me hopes it carries on for when we visit my folks in the mainland.

Other parts of me hopes it fucks off fairly soon!!

Was just coming on to ask the same! The heat is drivinf me demented, i can't stand it. It feels apocalyptic to me and sets off my anxiety.

Dd2 is over hot, over tired and melting down as only a furious toddler can.

Do feela bit bad that i can't just enjoy it. Am trying to get out with dcs and attempt to enjoy

It seems to get hotter in the afternoon. Staying out of midday sun should be renamed, staying out of 4pm sun.

I do wonder how much longer it will last. Looking forward to having a nights sleep!

Yesterday's forecast on TV was for the weather to contiue until at least middle of August.
I am finding the nights cooler with my window left open but it is the muggy afternoons that are taking its toll on me.
16 out atm so out with little dog in the cool air. Only 24 indoors. No sun yet.

I'm reading mixed things. BBC weather site seems to think it will cool down to low 20s here by Monday (I'm in East Anglia), but MetCheck says it will stay hot (high 20s) until at least next Thursday.

I'm struggling too, I've got a 4.5 month old baby and she still sleeps in my room which was 27 degrees at 10pm last night Shock

It was 35 degrees I hospital last night with no fans. It was awful. I couldn't stop sweating and o e guy had a panic attack. They did bring iced water around but without being able to get up you cant get fresh air or cold shower etc.

Looking at the charts (I do hope I'm getting some of this right!), forecast is much the same as I posted a few days ago. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday slightly cooler (more 22,23,24C rather than the 28-31C we've had) but then (and this is looking way ahead and will probably change) it looks like the heat builds again the middle of next week and then cools down for the weekend (2nd/3rd August).

Cindy ~ it does seem to get hotter in the afternoon, we hit 32.9C at 5.12pm last Friday ~ the sort of time when you expect things to be cooling down for the evening.

Couple of thunderstorms popping up in the South/SW, as can be seen here. Europe seems to be having a fair few as well!

After hot sunny days all week, DS2's sports day this afternoon was cancelled due to the sodding rain Hmm

Grin can't please some people, if it's cold we moan, if it rains for more than a day we moan, if it snows the uk comes to stand still and if it's above 20c for more than 2 days we moan that it's too hot.

I am hoping it stays warm ( but not too warm ) we go to Cornwall in 10 days time so would like it to be dry and warm enough for the beach but not too hot.

I know marne ~ ain't we great for moaning about the weather in this country!
