Can you explain very simply to me whether there is any snow on the way OYBBK?

met office warnings

this time rain isnt quite so much of a feature though there may still be enough to add to the issues. Tomorrow the focus is back on the wind down the west coast and the risk of coastal flooding.

As demonstrated on another thread swell will be up

As for further down the line, it does start to look calmer mid week with cooler temps but it doesnt look especially wintry other than northern hills at the moment. It still looks unsettled with more rain to come.

sparkling, not yet I think, maybe some transient wet snow. Perhaps more over northern higher ground but looking more like a normal winter rather than the snow fests of recent years.

I feel lucky to be in the landlocked Midlands at the moment. Even thought the Cricket Ground and Racecourse are under water.

I can do rain-I just can't do snow.

It must be bad where you are then Sparkling, I hope your house is OK.
I don't do snow either, nasty horrible stuff if you have to be out looking after animals.

We are a few miles from the underwater places Stripey, it's the pesky River Severn and it's burst banks, floods Worcester every time. Sad

There are a few local roads closed due to flooding that may affect me getting DS1 to his bus stop on Tuesday.

I like a bit of snow. I think I blew the chance of snow when I bought my dds snow boots in October. Damn it they'll have grown out of them by next year and they've not even worn them yet! Just bought the weather pro app...I like it!

As far as i am concerned the snow has had two weeks to appear while I had no school run to do and it didn't. It had it's chance and blew it.

Hello just returning for weather chat

Much as I adore snow/cold, I'd quite like it to wait until a)things re dried out so all of our soggy bricks dont shatter with the frost and the massive floods dont turn to ice
b)til I've got a few stressful things out of the way.

The rain will hugely improve tomorrow as I'm off out with dd to buy her some new wellies as not even mine fit her any more

We've been in this house for 10 winters now and this is the first year without snow at this point. We're in s durham, so tend to get snow if there's any around.

Report
Geckos48 · 05/01/2014 15:25

I don't think it will snow this winter.

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2014 15:31

If it does snow, it can be Feb Half Term, but six foot deep- none of this 'can I/can't I drive in it nonsense.

Sounds like a splendid plan Sparkling! And we need a good weeks warning so we all have enough wine in.

Thanks for this new thread kitten Hope there's no more flooding for anyone.

I'm hoping that there is no snow this year as I start a new job tomorrow which I have to drive to. Next year it can because by then I will have been there a year so having to have a snow day won't make them think that I'm a skiver as I would have proved how ace I am by then.

I've been lurking on your threads and I've now come to think of you as Mother Nature Grin Wine

Was just watching the weather (not sure if it was bbc or sky as I'm half asleep) and they said that this weather will continue for at least 10 days but looks like the end of the month will get a lot colder, no mention of 'snow' but we can hope Smile.

Rain is still quite light her which is a relief after yesterdays heavy rain (in the morning), seems to be light showers rather than stormy weather.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2014 15:53

They have access to models that the public dont. I hope they are right.

Its also rather good that the rain this afternoon isnt too bad at all :)

I'm not holding out much hope after the predicted a cold winter starting as early as the end of October Grin, we have hardly had any frosts let alone and (what I call) cold weather. I thought it was almost impossible to predict the weather that far ahead?

I looked at several forcasts yesterday (for today), one predicted very heavy rain and storms for the south, another said 'light rain, getting heavier and then clearing and another said showers Smile so chances are we wont get any cold weather at the end of the month, will probably still be raining.

The floods locally ( sea floods) haven't been seen anywhere near this level for at least 20 years. We aren't in one of the worst hit areas or even making it on the national news ( made in on NW tonight though.

Would be interesting to see the pattern of weather from last time the floods were this bad (20 years ago), was it followed by a hot dry summer? did it snow that year? would love to think we were going to get a nice summer to make up for all this wet weather Smile.

Been raining her for a few hours but more the fine drizzly stuff and big raindrops interspersed than anything I'd call torrential! South.
