Hanging off a rock in the inner hebrides and today we have gales and hail. Our poor lambs are huddled in corners, the grass won't grow, cows and sheep in misery and our poor piglets haven't even been outdoors yet!
Never mind that the heating is still on, we still need to light the fire most days as it feels so 'wintery'!
I know farmers are known for complaining about the weather but surely it must warm up sometime?

I am so sorry for your animals. The farmers lost a lot of lambs here too earlier on, and some of the ewes refused to feed others, so they have been hand rearing lots.

The field behind me has had lambs with mums outside for some weeks now. But we are in the south and have it luckier than in the Hebrides, I would imagine.

I know that having them inside makes so much more very hard work for you for all concerned. Are the animals usually outside at this time of year where you are?

I wish I could give long term forecasts, but I'm afraid I'd be inventing it. The thing I have noticed with this stupid wayward jet stream is that we either get stuck in prolonged dry or prolonged wet. Not a lot in between it seems.

There is a general warming trend showing through this month, but nothing remarkably warm,more on the cool side of average I think.

Now you're around Kitten - what are the chances of DH completed the three peaks in 24 hours this weekend? Fort William, Scarfell Pike and Snowdonia.

At the moment it looks pretty decent settled weather! Very nippy up in the Scottish mountains Sunday am though!

Now if they were sailing off the EA coast I would be advising them to keep a close eye and reconsider!

Well. A new day, a new forecast! I think your dh should be paying really close attention to the forecast. Instead of low pressure out to the east, it sits over the centre of England, bringing deluges to northern Wales and southern scotland on Saturday afternoon/night.

I think it won't really be pinned down until a couple of days before hand, which is rubbish for planing stuff!

sorry. I think the met office will be issuing weather warnings for the weekend soon. Some very very wet conditions now showing. It may dry up through Sunday in the northern half of England so Fatty, your afternoon maybe ok.

of course with little low pressures it can be hard to forecast their exact track until pretty close to the time.

I find I am affected a lot by the weather. My entire demeanour, outlook, attitude, everything.

I actually feel like crying at the moment because I am going running with DD when she gets home from school and I feel so fed up of hunching in the wind, will my glasses get rain splattered and I'll end up in a ditch cos I can't see where I'm going ........

It's so dark here. It's only a few weeks to midsummer and it's all being wasted. Lovely light evenings are being spent indoors .... utter crap.

Everything is grey, grey, cold, grey, grey, cold, wet, wind, grey.

We had lovely weather back on the bank holiday and I felt brilliant. Better than I have for about a year (the last time we had nice weather). I had so much energy and enthusiasm.

I think I was born in the wrong country.

Totally agree with you Ooopsadaisy, it is utterly depressing at the moment. Was so hoping for a better year weather wise. I think it almost feels worse now as we had the brief good weather on the bank holiday.

I have just lit the stove and am wondering do I need to restock the logs - that I already replenished last month - I would usually have finished with fires for the summer by now: it's mid-May!!!!! I haven't even thought about getting summer clothes out of storage: brrrr!

What gets me is that in not much more than a month the days will be starting to get SHORTER . It's nearly summer and it doesn't even feel like spring has started yet.

North-West here, we've still got central heating on, will probably need a top-up of oil soon. Kids still have hot water bottles at night. Gales, hailstones earlier today.

Where we are, our summers are usually wet, but the one redeeming feature has always been that we get a prolonged warm/dry period around Easter, often having at least a couple of Tshirt days by the end of March or early April. Not this year! I have a bad feeling that we'll go straight from cold winter to cold wet spring to cold wet summer, and then autumn again. Bah.

GRRRRRR. I have had to put the heating back on as only 17 degrees in sitting room this morning. It rained yesterday evening for ages and had to go out with little dog who didn't want to go .

But it is the COLD I am fed up with. +6 last night.
Last year on 15th May night was +4 but SUNNY the next day.

At least it is not raining atm, so must dash out with little dog before it does - fed up face.

I measure the weather in clothes. Thus far this year, I have worn my Birkenstocks once.
