Which car in snow?

Driving to gatwick lunchtime tomorrow. We have a choice of using big fat old honda coupe thats an automatic Biscuit or smaller newer volkswagen fox that is manual.

Which one would you choose? have already downsized packing etc

Don't know how far you have to go, or what the road conditions may be in your area, but "general knowledge" suggests that a small, light, narrow-wheel front-wheel drive would be better than an auto.

Yep, take the VW and buy some snow socks (for the wheels) in case it loses traction. Also - looking at other threads here - take bedding & hot drinks for the long, cold wait you may face at the airport!!

Thank you, We got stuck last year overnight with two kids am absolutely dreading it. Flight is actually supposed to be monday but we have a hotel with parking for two weeks so going today.

Just checking roads and forecasts. Can't believe heathrow still closed. Can't believe this is happening AGAIN

do halfords do snow snocks? doubt I will find them this am :(

We are going from outsdie guildford its not very far but we are allowing 4 hours!
