should we be preparing for snow every winter in future or is this a freak year? if we should be preparing, will the winters be getting colder and longer?

Good question - I'd count last year as unusually snowy too so it seems odd that it's two years running.

Some forecasters think we're entering a phase of having cold winters so for the next 30 years or something, we could end up having frosts/snow every year.

I'm just thinking of preparations if it is likely to be for the next few years or so. i remember the snow last year too although we are in NI and it was considerably less than we have had this year.

I'm just wondering if tyre chains or snow tyres and stocking up on grit and stuff is sensible or hysterical.
