Will have a look for you in a few minutes Katymac :)

Oh thank you

If the worst comes to the worst I will have to decide between train & car - I wonder if I could fly (mind you that isn't much better than the others in the snow)

Maybe I'll leave earlier if there is a big risk

I think you have a reasonable chance of some light snow both ways. Impossible to quantify how much still. I think that you will be alright on the trains - but take warm clothing just in case!
I can look in another couple of days if you like to firm up the forecast.

Thanks

It's such a long way & DD needs to be on top form when we arrive

It is a long way - perhaps choose your route carefully - is there a way of avoiding the pennines?

Hmm - not really I don't think

It's Norwich to Manchester; then on to Blackpool

Or Norwich to Peterborough to Leeds to Blackpool

Katymac - when do you need to know whether you are definitely going? It is some days off yet 9forecast wise) but the latest model run (they do vary a lot!) shows a fair amount on Saturday through sunday. It may well all change by then but......

Erm

National championships for DD on Saturday; so we kinda have to go

Damn

ok. I suppose the more important question is: how important is it you get back? (I think you should get there ok)

Report
KatyMac · 23/11/2010 17:18

I have 2 days to get back I can leave between about 8pm on Saturday and anytime on Monday........I suppose (mind you we might have to close/cancel children etc but it might be snowy here so they might not come anyway HmmConfused)

I'm assuming train is safer than car but if trains get cancelled we would be stuck

Tricky. Are you planning to buy your ticket in advance if you go by train?

Report
KatyMac · 23/11/2010 17:39

No, we have a privilege pass as DH is ex staff, so we can only buy a standard return (we just pay a lot less)

Excellent :) that takes a bit of the urgency out of planning whether to drive or train then.

Oh yes

However I am a complete control freak so I want contingency plans Grin And possibly sub contingency plans

You can kip at mine if you get stranded Grin. I'm just hoping the snow goes away as soon as it arrives - I need to get from Blackpool to Southampton on 10th Dec!!

Thanks - I got told tonight it's not happening in the west

So I'm all confused

Katymac - that is true at first. By Sunday anywhere could see the snow - and of course even if Blackpool (which tbh it may well not snow - being right on the coast and sea temps still being warmish) you have an awful lot of 'not west' to go through.

Anyhow, off to look at th latest model runs!

Although the train might be safer, I am wondering if I will have more control if we drive (ie stopping when we want rather than being abandoned randomly)

But I also wonder if I am over thinking it

Oh thank you so much

You mustn't feel obliged to look after us all you know; you work so hard for us and I must tell you how much we appreciate it.

I hate the unpredictability & insecurity of the whole travelling/weather thing
