New to BLW.....HELP!!!

I am very very new the BLW. My bubs is 7 months old and I had been giving her purees since just before 6 months.

But after a horrible stressful week of my HV telling me to "be more pushy" with the bogging, luke warm veg puree and some research I found BLW and it sounds right up my street.

So 2 days into my new, amazing, non stressful feeding regime I am suddenly worrying again.

I am worried she is hungry. She doesn't seem to be eating much. She will pick food up and wave it about, smoosh it into her high chair, suck on it for a bit and then drop it on the floor.

I know this sounds normal for the first few days of BLW, but I am worried that because she is used to being spoon fed that she is waiting for me to feed her and that presenting food to her in this manner is just another "toy"

I am not sure if it is a coincidence but she has been really stroppy since I started the BLW.

I am sure if your lo was hungry you would really know about it. Lots of babies start BLW by just playing with the food and it can take a good couple of months before they start eating it.

All babies self-regulate (I think until they are about 2yrs old) so if she is hungry she will eat more or drink more.

I have to say that I still worry about food and mine is 10months. I go from is he eating enough to is he eating too much then to is he drink too much/little water then to is he having the right kinds of food to eat. i have always been a worrier though but do my best to avoid showing these worries at meal times.

I always keep in my head though 'food is for fun until they are one' just slowly introduce her to a wide variety of tastes and textures and let her enjoy

the stroppiness is probably the begining of your lo's blossoming independence. it is a good sign

Just to reassure you, I am also new to BLW (DD is 6 months) and I think she is taking in an equivalent amount of food to her brother when he first started spoon feeding. He would have an icecube of carrot, much of which would be smeared over his chops and bib. By the time he was one he was famous throughout the land for his ability to eat food (Okay, it was remarked on regularly by the staff in his room at nursery...) Comparing food in nappies (e.g. banana), they are pretty much the same. I think that if you are giving her the opportunity to eat food she will work it out. As long as you are still keeping up milk feeds, she won't be hungry.
