10 month old spitting out lumps - help!

Had this problem, if so how did you fix it? My dd has started refusing to eat lumps, after managing quite well for a good month or so.

If I give her, for example, minced/ mashed spag bol, she'll put her fingers in her mouth and pull out the bits of minced beef and pasta. Yesterday, it was beef casserole, and she spat out this huge great lump of amalagamated semi chewed carrot. Occasionally, she'll look at what she's spat out and then feed it back in again!

The only thing she will eat, is ultra smooth puree stage 1 food....even finger food isn't going down so well, she won't eat toast and babybel any more and these were her favourites! Aaargh. Any advice? x

My one year old goes one stage further and projectile vomits everything all over the kitchen if he gets the slightest lump! I have to seive his food to get rid of lumps!
He isnt so bad with rusks but it's so frustrating.

Ooh how horrid. We solved this problem by never giving DD purees TBH but I'm told that if you stop trying to give lumps and give real finger food it sometimes works because they recognise it's different and give it a go.

Oh dear! Well it could be worse I suppose, at least she doesn't vomit everywhere! The last couple of days, she's been refusing food, altogether - although she's got 7 front teeth and was biting bits off, she will now only suck dairylea off toast and not eat the toast...and she was even gagging on her porridge this morning so we didn't even get any of that down!

If this carries on I am going to have to take her back to the HV - she is only 18lbs as it is, so it's not really like I can leave her to it as she wastes away pretty quickly! x

Is she teething? Both my ds's went off their food when teething and would only have bottles and eat yoghurts.

I had thought of that, but today she ate none of her dinner apart from peas, and none of her pudding apart from raisins...am starting to wonder if there is a worrying 'I'll only eat round food' trend appearing! Where did I put that melon baller...... She's got 7 front teeth, so I guess if she is teething it could be the back ones which must be quite hurty.

maybe she just wants everything small. that's ok, just cut everything up. then gradually offer different sized things.

I think the back ones are the most painful because they are so much bigger
