Have been weaning for a few weeks and am making puree for ds. Have not had time to make stock but have bought stoCk cubes. They are Kallo organic and listed on the back it states Sodium 0,3g, the lowest I could find. Do you think that it will be alright for puree?

TIA

i'm not sure it's evn necessary at all to have stock in a baby's food. what were you thinking of making?

Aitch - thanks for reply
A chicken and veg mix in A.K book. Not really sure how to make it taste edible without one?

well, probably best not to get me started on AK but remember the baby has only eaten milk for months and months... it's all new to him so it's all excitingly edible therefore i personally wouldn't bother.

if you're still keen to use stock, though, what about boiling up a carrot, couple of bits of celery, an onion, (possibly some garlic, even) and a bay leaf for a while? that will make a stock that you can freeze and use bit by bit? i do that when i've had roast chicken, and i sling the chicken carcass in as well.

Cooks ingredients range from Waitrose do stock with no salt in. Also Olimia do some as well that you can order online. When I was weaning ds I made my own as there weren't any on the market without salt, god what a faff that was!

at that age, just use water, won't taste much different, or use the water from boiling/steaming whatever method you're using to cook the veg.
or make your own veggie stock up - it would be way too salty for babies, even if it's low salt

Babies don't need stock and don;t miss it. I didn't use stock in food for my LOs until they were at least 1yo. Garlic, black pepper, herbs, fried onions, nutritional yeast flakes all add flavour if you make the same dishes for LOs and family.
