My baby finally eats solids!

Just wanted to share the joy! And in the hope it's useful to anyone else with a reluctant to eat solids baby.

I've been introducing DS now age 9 months to solids since he was 6 months. Mostly finger foods, occasional spoonfuls of puree (when I lost my confidence in BLW in the face of all my RL friends pureeing away). He'd eat a couple of mouthfuls then lose interest. Sometimes I felt fine about this, sometimes I worried because his weight gain is slow (and because all my RL friends' babies seem to be eating loads). I kept offering them 2 or 3 times a day and ignored my HV's advice to cut down his BFs and 'cold turkey' him on to solids and milk in a cup.

Then suddenly about a fortnight ago it was as if he got it. He started eating lunch (between bfs) and then not wanting the next bf. Now he's eating everything we put in front of him 3 or 4 times a day (except banana which he doesn't seem to like, bizarrely) and having a lovely time. He frowns with concentration as he manhandles it into his mouth and then grins at his success and reaches for the next piece. It's so nice to see! (Still bfing lots too)

I think he just wasn't ready for solids before now. Wish I'd relaxed more and trusted him to get it eventually...

Thank you for posting that, I was just browsing this topic for reassurance regarding my reluctant 6 monther. As her brother loved his food straight away I've been a bit taken aback by her reluctance.
