I have been weaning ds for 3 weeks now and he's been loving it until the last few days when he has been really constipated-any suggestions of how best to cure? He is just 6 months. Thanks

What are you giving him?

I have heard that a tsp of prune juice is good. I couldn't find any so soaked some prunes in boiling water then pureed them in the water. I mixed a tsp of this puree in with some pear puree and dd loved it (and it sorted the problem ). I have heard that banana can cause constipation - my dd loves it unfortunately! Other problem could be shortage of fluids - is your lo still taking in plenty of milk? Could also offer a little boiled water after solids?

NB now he's 6mo no need to boil water - offer plain tap water with meals.

had the same problem with my dd, gave a teaspoon of prune juice stirred in with every meal, and lo and behold she laid an egg, well that's what it looked like . Could only find huge bottle of prune juice in Waitrose, so pureed and froze some apple with prune juice in for future occasions. But have given her pureed prunes as a fruit, she loves them. She was constipated for ages, but digestion seems to have got the hang of solids now. good luck.

we give dd apricots or prunes on alternate days with breakfast. most of the time she will take ready brek from a sponn so stir it in (only if we let her put her hands in though). works a treat. she too loves bananas and has one a day. also dreid figs and fresh pear seem to help. fresh pear
