how can i get 15 month old to eat fruit and veg?

my DS is 15 months old and whilst i was weaning him he would eat a variety of fruit and veg, but now he hardly eats any.
a sunday lunch means he will just eat the meat, even gravy cant tempt him, he just spits it out.
he will eat peas and sweetcorn and sweet potatoe in a sheperds pie, veg blended in a pasta sauce, mushroom risotto and he will sometimes eat banana and apples.

he doesnt want puddings even when he hasnt eaten alot of his meal and he doesnt seem that interested in snacks unless its raisins.

can anyone give me any ideas how to get him to eat more fruit and veg or any ideas of how to hide it in things.

he also has allergies to dairy and eggs which limit recipes too.

About once a week I use up all our veg by sauteing it adding a tin of tomatoes simmering it all for a bit blending it and then serving it with pasta topped with cheese. DC's non the wiser about what's in the sauce they think it's just tomato! Oh just read last part of your post - forget the cheese

Mine are not great fruit and veg eaters but I find if I chop things up and stick it under their noses in between meals they eat it far more readily than if it's part of a meal and there are other more yummy things to choose.

I think steinermum has a good idea. This week I started serving up raw vegetable batons (carrots, peppers, celery, cucumber) with a dip (mashed avocado or hummus) and it was a big hit. You could try something similar with fruit - serve up slices of apple / pear / whatever and just leave it in the room he he is playing in and he may just help himself whenever he feels like it (I was going to suggest with a 'dip' of natural yogurt, but he can't have that can he?)

thanks everyone, i will try the suggestions with perseverence. he just doesnt seem to have a big appetite inbetween meals. i have tried him with smoothies but he doesnt drink them but will eat abit off a spoon so may have to try doing more of that too.

my dd2 is the same
i laugh that she is on the atkins diet!

she also has egg and dairy (though that seems to be easing) allergies

anyway, i do lasagne (no cheese, made with her formula) with the bolognese sauce packed with veg
same bolognese sauce with pasta

she is quite good with veg all pureed in soup, esp if i put a wholemeal toasted muffin cut up in the soup

or i serve up carrot sticks, sliced apple etc with humous when i know she is hungry.

above all i don't worry as much as i did with DD1. if she hasn't pooed for a couple of days, she just gets a spoon of lactulose and she has an innocent smoothie in a carton everyday...
