I am starting weaning ds tomorrow (was going to do today but he was too hungry by time I finished attempting to puree carrots through a sieve!). I am going to get a food processor in next few weeks but until then is me and a fork and sieve and while I have mashed carrots as much as possible they arent totally smooth. Is this ok? DS 5.5 months and no teeth! Also will said carrots and some pureed pear be ok tomorrow if kept in fridge?

I think as smooth as possible so they don't gag but all babies are different. Try putting them through a garlic crusher to save your mashing

When I did pureed carrots (my DD1's first food) I used a hand mill. It looked like orange water with small granules of carrot. Does that sound familiar?

I don't think anything went down the first day. But she had some the next. I went pretty quickly from using the mill to using the potato masher.
