Brown/Wholemeal bread

Am I allowed to give the above to 9 month old ds. I thought I'd read somewhere that you couldn't as it bunged up their wee tummies and wasn't good for them, but now i'm thinking I might have got that wrong?

I would. But I'm no expert on anything. Have learned not to offer ds2 (7mths) bread with seeds in yet - he can't manage pumpkin seeds - but wholemeal hasn't done any damage yet.

As I remember, the wholemeal bread fills them up before they've had enough calories.

I used the half and half breads with dd1 (you know, like Hovis Best Of Both), or a brown or wheatgerm bread.

Don't know if that solves the problem, but to my mind it was somewhere inbetween the high fibre (that I'd usually choose for myself) and the white sliced (that I wouldn't).

Doctor told me to give DD brown bread when she was about 7-8 months as she gets constipated. She now has a mixture of granary, wholemeal and white - whatever we've bought really.
