we are going out for the day and need some more ideas for a 'packed lunch'. my lo is 7 mnths and on soft / firm finger foods. my plan is cucumber, tomato, rice cakes, pear, banana, and cold cooked carrot. it has to be not too messy. any other ideas gratefully received.

i'd leave out the tomato..as it can be a bit sloppy...oat cakes and cheese fingers are good...apple , satsuma , mini pitta bread with spread inside with hummous ...

Have you started dairy? I find pitta pockets filled with stuff are easy and not too messy - even rice cakes can end up being quite messy, as can tomatoes! If you have started dairy then a pitta bread with soft cheese like philly inside would be easy and shouldn't be too messy.

if you're doing bread yet then i'd do sandwiches. what will you be taking for yourself? can your lo have the same? houmous and grated cheese sandwiches are nice, stay together well.

We are not doing dairy yet but are doing wheat. Pitta with humous sounds a great idea. I had thought about sandwiches but could not think of anything to put in them. Thankds for the suggestions. Any other ideas gratefully receied.

you can get really cute mini pittas, and hummus and grated carrot is yummy. and now that i think of it, a clementine or tangerine is pretty good and clean.
