Do you use stock cubes/gravy granules within dishes for 9m?

At the moment I am avoiding useing commercial stock flavourings (bisto, oxo etc) for DDs food because they are quite salty. It means I don't give her some stuff I cook for the rest of the family - I then end up having to prep something different. I am not thinking of serving her gravy - I am thinking more of dishes that I add stock cubes too (e.g. bolognese, chilli, cottage pie, stew...)

Just wondered whether I am being paranoid & what you guys do.

I think your supposed to wait until they are over 1 year. With ds (13 months) I used to add stock cubes but no extra salt from when he was about 10 or 11 months. Now he eats everything we eat - I just don't add extra salt.

I wouldn't give stock cubes to anyone whether they were 9 mths or 90.
They're full of crap.

No. I don't use stock etc until at least 12m. Effectively for longer, because I get into the habit of cooking withou it for the family - none of us really need the extra salt, and you can generally add flavour in other ways.

Didn't when DS was 9m, but after he got to 1 we did, although HV said that as he was getting a smaller portion, he would be having an appropriate amount of salt if he did. We didn;t mind cooking something separate for him though.
You don't really need to add a stock cube to bolognese if you don't want. Use chopped tinned tomatoes & some dried herbs for flavour.

I just use boiling water when recipes say stock ofr my 9 month old. I think the taste of the veg etc is tasty enough.

I thought I hit the jackpot when I found Waitrose "WTR Cooks' Ingredients Chicken Stock." It's stock that comes ready-made and doesn't have any junk or salt added! I use it all the time for making baby food.

I have just bought an organic bouillon powder from Sainsburys. It does not seem to have any salt added - it's not in the ingredients list.

I just make spag bol, stew etc without seasoning and stock cube. When its cooked I take some out for my 7 mo dd and then season the rest for me and dh. Works just as well.
