Weaning

Teething turns good eaters into fussy madams! Will it improve?

I weaned my 9 month twins on a wide variety of food and they had become great eaters - I even had them gnawing on big chunks of goose at Christmas! They've just started teething and it's all gone out the window. They fuss about and refuse everything - we are down to soya yoghurt, fruit, bread and rice cakes. It's hard to know what to do - should I let them eat yoghurt for every meal or go without?

Did anyone else have this problem when teeth came in? Did it go back to how it was? They are still taking milk so I'm not worried about their health, it's just so frustrating when we were making good progress.

hope someone with more experience will also reply...

ds is just 8 mo and now has 3 teeth, when he went off food hv said not to worry as he'll eat when hungry and his appetite did come back as soon as each tooth broke through - seemed to be the cutting bit that through him off which lasted 2-3 days at a time

hope its getting better x

My dd is nearly 2 and is just getting the last set of molars in (thank god, it'll all be over after this!!!!) She is a 'good eater' but definately does go off certain kinds of food when she is teething, namely fruit and anything remotely healthy! Unfortunately it seems to have got worse with each bout of teething, but so far has always gone back to eating well once the teeth were through... Hopefully you'll find the same thing will happen. she would also eat like a horse for a couple weeks once the teething was over and her appetite had returned, so don't worry too much! hth
