So there's a gill rapley one that I thought I'd get but also saw a river cottage one, is that one worth getting too?

I'm not much of a cook, and need quite a bit of help with nice recipes that I can feed my dd.

Any other books suggested? Or blogs, website etc?

I found the BLW cookbook useful initially while I was gaining confidence. In particular, the lunch ideas were really helpful plus other tips like not breaking the mince up too much in cottage pie, lasagne etc so there are some clumps for them to pick up. But long term, I haven't used it that much although I do still use a couple of recipes. I cook quite a bit and a lot of the dinner recipes were for things I already cooked - roast, fish pie etc - so didn't use that section much.

I also have the River Cottage one and think it's worth buying for the introduction alone. (Very practical and sensible, especially the fussy eating advice.) It's also not BLW specific and suggests ways to adapt the recipes for spoonfeeding. The recipes are a bit more unusual and I regularly use quite a few. But some of the ingredients are a bit more unusual so I think some recipes might be a bit daunting if you're lacking a bit of confidence with cooking.

Just give them a bit of what you are having, unseasoned.

My oldest was weaned in the purée era, and the younger two by BLW - it really was nothing more than bunging some broccoli, potato and chicken on a plate (or high chair tray!).

Scrambled eggs are great for picking up, and we've awesome pictures of ds eating spaghetti bol with his hands!!

I enjoyed the Gill Rapley Baby Led Weaning cookbook. It's really easy to follow and I still use it for family meals now DD is 2.8yo. I was a bit intimidated by the River Cottage book personally - but I'm not a very confident cook. I got some good ideas from a book called Finger Food for Toddlers by Jenny Maizel.

Thanks for the feedback, as a slightly limited cook, I think I'll give huge river cottage one a miss. I got river cottage family cookbook from the library so can have a flick through and copy down and recipes I think I can handle.

Dd is only 5 months so not looking to feed her full meals just yet, got a while to work my way away from unsuitable freezer food.
