Hiya,

I've just started weaning my DD and we have so far tried parsnip & carrot. Just about to try cauliflower today...

She also has porridge after her morning bottle.

So far it kinda goes:

7am wake up
7.30 ff 7oz, followed by porridge made with 1oz of ff.
11.30 1cube of veg followed by 7oz ff
3.30 1 cube veg followed by 7oz ff
7.30pm 8oz ff
8pm bed.

She loves her veggies, and opens her mouth in anticipation. She always finishes the full cube.

I'm gonna try her on a few more types of veg, and then maybe move on to fruit...

Am just thinking ahead really... When i introduce fruit should i introduce it as well as veg, or do it instead of veg?

Have read up on baby led weaning but not so keen on it as i go back to work full time in 4 weeks and dd will be going to nursery. Besides, I'm quite happy for her to be on purreed food for now, and she defo seems to be enjoying it

Try some fruit too. You can cook sweet eating apples and blend to a puree, pears too.

I offered fruit with breakfast porridge and at lunch and kept veg for dinner!

How old is she? Have you heard of Baby led weaning? Try this blog, run by Aitch and a friend. link

Babies love sweet potato, pureed peas, sweetcorn, runny mashed potato.
We did pureed apple, pears & mashed banana too for DS. KInd of gave him a cube of savoury and then a cube of fruit for "pudding"

you could introduce pureed fruit in with the porridge. how old is she? I weaned both of mnine by giving them a cube at meal times rather than bottle times, worked out well (for me) as they still both get hungry at those times!

butternut squash was a fave of ours, apple and pear easy to do and feeze. banana is fab to take with you when you are out, just mash it when you are ready and add mik if its too sticky.

broccoli is quite bitter so i used to mix that with mashed potato

I read the blog on BLW but am still happy to do it the puree way for now. Altho she does try to grab food (or drinks) from us if she sees it, i'm still a bit wary on giving her something 'whole' if you know what i mean... I suppose i'm worried about choking etc...

I've done some butternut squash and got them ready in the freezer, and i have also bought some sweet potato ready for me to do that this afternoon...

With mashed potato do you add milk & butter like you would for the grown up version?? I read that if you pureed potato that it turned to glue, but i'd never thought about giving mashed potato. That sounds really stupid when i read it back - but its all still a bit of a mine field at the mo!!

I think i'll defo try fruit with porridge on a morning, and see how that goes... Then maybe in a few days i'll try a cube of veggies, then a cube of fruit and then offer bottle..

I tried offering veggies in between feeds before, but she wasn't really interested, and this way seems to be working quite well at the mo... The times aren't a million miles out for meal times (i think the nursery serve tea at 4.30 for the bigger ones) and she'll still have a bedtime bottle for quite a while yet i think? From what i've read anyway... Like i say - its all a bit confusing when you're just starting out!!

I did mashed potato with whole milk, i don;t use butter in adult mash anyway.

Only mentioned the times i did it because that is what worked for me, if diff times work for you then great

I would hold off freezing lots of diff things for now tbh. I would just stick with what u have already done for now, just a new thing every so often, there really is no rush to get them eating lots of things.
