Weaning PFB - bit nervous!

My DD turns 6mo very soon so I'm preparing to wean. I want to go down the BLW route but it's been scoffed at slightly by my DPs and PiLs, so it's making me slightly nervous.

I thought to begin with I'd give her a couple of small boiled/steamed broccoli florets and a couple of pasta spirals to gum/suck/chuck on the floor. Does this sound alright for a very first taste of food, or should I do a week's worth of pureeing/mashing? I was really confident about weaning when it was weeks away, now it's nearly here I'm wavering! Confused

Do whatever you want! Doesn't have to be all or nothing - most people tend to do a bit of both. I wouldn't bother properly puréeing everything at six months if you do do a bit of spoon feeding. Just mash it up a bit.

Blw is so easy, I was dreading weaning, really was, and I ended up loving it. I just let her get on with.

I'd scrap any purée, it's not worth it. Just sit them on your lap whilst your eating and let them have a taste of some of your food.

Try and read BLW book by Gill Rapely. It's an easy read and should reassure you that there isn't anything to worry about.

It's good to prepare for the "worst case" scenario, so I watched a video on what to do if baby chokes, and saw the difference between a choke and a gag (very different).

Get your camera ready too - I have some cracking weaning pictures!
