Have I ballsed it up?

With ds I carefully followed a weaning book, but dd (23 weeks today) looked at my banana so wistfully yesterday that I gave her some on the spur of the moment. She loved it & grabbed one from me this morning too!
We're on holiday at the moment and I'm not quite sure what to do now Hmm Do I give her baby rice, sweet potato, parsnip etc as I did ds, or should I leave it till we get home (in 2 weeks) and just eat banana's in secret Grin
All I can think is that I shouldn't have started off with something sweet... I'm sure I read that somewhere!

DS1's first food was a piece of melon grabbed from my plate at nearly 6 months, having fruit at first doesn't seem to have affected his future diet in the slightest (or rather he ate pretty much everything until he was two, then got fussier, is now getting slowly less fussy, which seems kind of normal). My only concern with lots of banana is that it can be constipating - why not try some other fruits. And there's no need to carefully follow a weaning book or give baby rice.

It sounds like your DD has embraced baby led weaning...

My view is that chewing plastic hasn't given my dd a permanent taste for plastic, one taste can't wreck everything. If you're worried just start proper with veggies.
