How much do u give ur 6 month old roughly?

I caved and started to wean Joey early (was 22 weeks ish (more 23 thou I think) by the time we actually moved and got started properly - the clincher was him having 2 pots p/d for about 3 days b4 we moved then nothing bar milk for the two days we were moving aznd he was a monster - que 2 pots again and a lovely settled boy again.

anyhow he's now started really playing up and being unsettled again esp at night, his teeth are coming thru but last night was an absolute nightmare so was wondering if i'm starving him or not! lol.

he's having so far

brekkie (7ish) boobie (today have given apple/oat brekkie as well tyhe 6tbs's recommeneded and was wolfed down as well as a boob feed)

10 ish (post nap) boob again as a snack (going to swop for a bottle today has been haviong 7oz at ngiht so have doen an 8 oz one ready) nother nap around 11 for 45 mins

12 -12.30 either one pot of main and one of pudding or my meals - again one main and fruit/yoghurt puree etc with fresh fruit and nat yog.

4 as per lunch time (offering water with both of these) has a nap around 3 for an hour.

boobie and bed at 7,

night bottle around 2am ish 7oz. will then wake at 4 5 and 6.30 (7 o'clock bed time is a total nightmare at the mo)

going to today give him an extra bottle at 2 to see if that and the brekkie helps settle him a bit more, but was wondering what everyone else feeds their bubba's. I know he's a hungry baby just won't want him to go hungry. iycwim.

nup apparently that's bad or soemthing?? I don't know we are usin calgel and calpol, he just wouldn't settle after a dose of calpol clean bum, the gel so caved and gave him an extra 7oz bottle which he took 6 of at 9 and woke at 4.

dh being unsupportive re the BF thou and is now saying I should stop - why can't he/MIL just acept that i'm not wanting to stop BF yet and want to keep the brekkie/bed boobies going.

I think you are doing fine on the food front, i would say the problem is his teething i remember ds when he was teething & he used to be awake all the bloody time especially through the night.

what I don't understand thou is at 8.30 ish I tried a boob feed and he wouldn't take it, que the bottle at 9 which he took no probs and went straight to sleep.

also his 3-6 clothes are still fititng him in the waist/trousers. DH is tall and lankey but I would have thought he should comfortably fit the 6-9 around the waist now like he did with the 3-6 at 3 months?

quite possibly jsut the teeth unsettling him hun - try bonjela, i swear by it - stick calgel in your own mouth - its does sweet FA, stick bonjela in your gob and hey presto!

ignore dh and mil re bf = do what you want, but try not to stress too much. if you are tense, Joey wont want to feed from you. and if his teeth are sore, maybe the bottle is easier for him?! who knows - im not good with the whole BF thing.... im a bottle feeder!

Munz agree with J&R'sM also you can cross nurofen (baby obviously) with the Calpol when they're teething badly, just give it a space of a 2 hrs afterwards, it does the trick better than calpol sometimes too.

I would not go by the size of clothes for his weight.

Do you take him to clinic to be weighed? what line is he on on his red book? I am sure if he was under weight the HV would be involved, he sounds fine to me just keep up with the feeding & offer him something if you think he is hungry if he is he will take it if not he wont.

I agree with Sccoby about teeth making them wake in the night. My ds was awful. He was better with bongela but dd is better with calgel. Also we use the homepathic remedy Chamomilla for her teething pains. Its a little tiny pill(for babies) that dissolves in the mouth. That always helps.
I think the food sounds right and also don't think the clothes are a very good way to see if he's over or under weight. They are all so different in the same sizes. Today my 12 month old has a 6-12 month top and 6 month trousers on but last night she had a 12-18 month babygro on and a 18-24 month vest!!!
What line is he on in his book?

got the ashtons thing, DH isn't a fan of the calpol, althou I didn't realise u could mix the calpol with the nuerofen (can feel a trip to tesco's coming on! lol)

weight wise, got him done last week and he's 17lb 10 oz, the h/v didn't seem to fussed down here about his weight althou my last one in wales said he needed feeding up a bit more as he'd dropped from just above the 50th centile to just beliow it (althou he's always been above the line) now he's back to slightly above again). think i'll definatly get some of the nurofen - that's literally wait 2 hours after the calpol if required?? I don't like to medicate him for no reason but likewise I don't want him to suffer either if I can help fix the problem.

thanks for your help guys, been going mad with out u lot!

His weight sounds great. My dd is 6 months older than him and is 19lbs.! She's on the 25th line and perfectly healthy. Try the neurofen/calpol. You'd take painkillers for yourself if you were in pain so it makes sence to give it to him if it will help.

ds2 didn't have solids till he was nearly a year old. i don't think there's any need to worry.
