DS is 5 months. I saw my HV today at a routine weighing session and so asked about weaning just because it was quiet and i was there.

I don't plan to wean for another month but what if DS isn't sitting by then? Some babies sit much later than this don't they? I'm assuming i shouldn't wait till 8 months to wean??

My 1st was 8 months before he sat unaided but sat happily in a high chair from 6 months ish.. Just go for it when you think is the right time Smile

I think the advice is actually something like "stay in a sitting position and hold their heads well" - that could be up your lap or in a highchair rather than completely unaided on the floor. It's important they can keep themselves fairly upright and don't need to be reclined in a bouncer etc (choking risk).

NHS advice is here www.nhs.uk/start4life/documents/pdfs/introducing_solid_foods.pdf

DS didn't sit unaided on the floor until after 7 months, but could sit upright and hold his head up fine on my lap by 5.
