Do I have to do baby rice?

DD2 is 6 months now. Gave her first play with baby rice last week and went down fine. Tried her on some today again and she's deffo ready as she demolished the lot and wanted more.
In between I've been letting her chew on sticks of carrot, baby corn, cucumber etc as she's teething. my mum gave her a rusk and my childminder gave her a spoon of baby porridge when she was feeding her own DD and also a rice cake.

So we've hardly been precious about the weaning stage.
Can I just knock the baby rice gunk on the head and steam in with some veggies?

yep, I haven't bothered with baby rice. just go for vegetables and fruit wnd rice cakes.
babyrice is useful for thickening imo but not actually food is it? Smile

I feel bad making her eat it, looks gross.
Great, off to steam some carrits then.

Do I have to faff with all this starting off week 1 with just brekkie or can i give her something when Lottie is eating her brekkie, lunch & tea?

I do the BLW Thomcat, just giving her squishy finger food when dd1 (who's 3) had her meals. she's 7 months btw.
I honestly wouldn't worry too much about week 1 and all that. just offer her food at normal mealtimes and keep up with the milk.
I am slapdash parent though Smile

Cool, I like slapdash when it comes to parenting.
She's happily making a mess with a banana as Lottie eats her fruit salad now so ..... we're off! Smile

Dd didn't have baby rice apart from as a thickener whne other purees went too runny. It isn't readily avaiable in Europe so they just steam straight in with veg, fruit and gluten containing , sweetened and choccy/vanilla flavoured cereals !
