My ds 8 months old has between 21- 28oz of formula a day along with three meals of solids - should he be drinking extra liquid and if so can I give him it in a bottle or should he be getting used to a cup? - I am so confused by various things I have read - what has been others experience??

I give ds (9mths) water with his dinners but tbh he's not eating or drinking much atm I think it's the heat.

my 8mth dd2 has about 21oz of formula, She then gets water in a Tomme Tippee first cup (?easiflow) - this is the only cup that either dd's will use. I offer cup after each meal and as and when dd1 has a drink. i.e. we've just got back in from an hour in the garden so had a drink.

it'll take a while for your ds to get to grips with a cup but its better to start now so that he gets the concept as the bottles will decrease again soon.

it'll take alot for them to get dehydrated - if you're worrying and ds won't use cup you could add extra water to formula - had to do this with dd1 as wouldn't entertain any other fluid than formula until she was 1.5!
