Day 5... No poo!

My 6 mth old has been weaning for about 2 weeks now. Since birth he has been very regular with a big poo every morning, however today is day 5 and still no poo. I suspect it was the mashed banana I gave him. Should I be worried?

I'd start giving him stuff like prune juice to try to make him go, also hold off on any more banana or stodgy stuff like weetabix and bread.

If he still hasn't gone in a couple of days, I'd be taking him to the doc.

My DS developed constipation on weaning, we took him back to the doc on day 9 after previous suggestions hadn't helped and he did a massive poo on the examining couch!

LOL! That is just typical of kids isn't it?! Thanks. My cousin suggested brown sugar & water, have you tried that?

No, but I've heard it can work. If you google, there are loads of suggestions for things to try!

Good luck!

Is Lo bf or ff? Is Lo in any discomfort, like straining and crying? I'd offer water with all solids and cut solids out or reduce to once a day, if bf, just offer more bfs. There shouldn't be a need for sugar and water Smile

Have you tried carrying him in a sling, baby massage and no nappy time too?

My DS was exactly the same after banana. I've noticed papaya helps him go but he did an enormous poonami after some broccoli!!

Gp said to avoid banana, carrot and baby porridge for a while. She also suggested cooled boiled water with a tiny drop of freshly squeezed orange juice
