Confused on this since started weaning. He has 3 meals a day but is a bit overweight, think I might give too much milk. He drinks during day and night.Shock

Babies at 6month tend to be a bit chubby I worried the same but my ds is now 8months and has lost his chubbiness through being a lot more active ie;rolling, shuffling on the floor playing in his static walker etc and I think naturally they will drop milk feeds as they eat more mine is not drinking any now as he had a cold. But drinking water still so doctor not concerned. Maybe do smaller milk feeds and more food so he naturally favours food over milk but try not to worry I think they get there in the end. And if you get baby weighed maybe ask but they are still so little we shouldn't tie ourselves in knots over babies weight.

In what way is he overweight? Is he on very different centiles for height and weight?

Are you formula feeding? From 6-12 months they need a minimum of 500-600ml/18-21oz of milk a day. At this stage I would offer meals an hour after milk.

I don't think it sounds too much for a 6 month old, lots of babies aren't even eating at that age! If he's eating well in the day you could try dropping a night feed though?

If you think he is overweight what are his centiles like? Are his height and weight centiles in proportion? Are you offering solids approximately an hour after a milk feed?
