Best highchairs, equipment for weaning

Hi, can anyone recommend a good, sturdy highchair and where to get the best spoons etc.. Also what other stuff would u buy?

I did loads of research and went for the babybjorn one, it's brilliant, super sturdy, no nooks and crannies for food to get lost, no straps which dd hates. She is really happy in it and will sit and play there for an hour while I clean the kitchen.

I have just started weaning and it is proving very messy. I got advised in here to go for the ikea antilop high chair and its brilliant! Only cost 16 quid and is sturdy and super easy to clean which is important as my dd is very very messy. One thing I need to get is a bit of wipe clean table cloth for underneath as a lot gets dropped.

I got spoons from tesco and boots she has refused both so it's finger food only (hence the mess!!)

You need bibs too...I just had basic material round neck jobs but these are hopeless, I've ordered some sleeved ones from amazon but not got them yet.

With have the tripp Trapp highchair and love it as it goes right up to the table so our ds feels really included in family meals. He has happily sat in it since he was 3 months old and will happily sit in it for hours playing and chatting to us. It is expensive but lasts a lifetime and also good for that time where they are to big for a highchair but can't sit comfortably on an adult chair.
For bibs we have found the best to be the ikea full arm bibs, our ds is being blw and sleeves are essential. Mil bought us some from mothercare which were awful and they have fallen apart since Christmas.
For bowls with just have normal kids plastic bowls and plates. Don't buy a lot of spoons as you may change your mind in which you would prefer. We had the Tommee tippee heat sensitive ones which are crap if the food is anything but cold they change colour. We found it was easier to get some shorter handled spoons from boots as ds likes to feed himself with the spoon as well and the shorter handle ones are much easier for him.
A small cool bag is handy too for transporting food.

Ikea antilop here too. We bought a chicco one with DS1 and really regretted it. Got an ikea one with DS2. So cheap and easy to clean. The tray and the seat can go into the dishwasher! I used to do this every few months. The legs come off completely so it can go into a suitcase. We took it to India and Sri Lanka! It was brilliant.

Antilop here too. Bibetta bibs (Amazon). Cheapo plastic spoons - DD finds them easier than the more expensive 'weaning spoons'. The vital baby suction bowl (Amazon again) works pretty well, but we tend to just put stuff on the tray in front of her. Tommy Tippee free flow soppy cups. And a camera for the obligatory food-all-over-face shot!

I like the Tripp Trapp highchair, it is £££ but has a pretty good resale value.
Those booster seats you strap to a normal chair are also great.
The frog weaning set from Ikea has been a good buy, dish, free flow cup, spoon and bib for £2.50.
I also like to have a china dish for hot food, have had four DC and none have ever smashed one.
Tommee Tippee basic free flow cup with a fold down spout for travelling, (the ikea one isn't non spill).
Asda little angels spoons are really good for spoon feeding.
I have a Brother Max Bowl with a lid for eating out.
The tidy diner is brilliant, its a rubbery place mat that sticks to the table, it stops dishes sliding around. It has a scoop to stop most food falling into their lap, and it all folds in on itself so you just chuck it in the sink to clean.
I prefer pelican bibs to sleeved ones, the sleeves never seem long enough.
Lots of cheap face cloths rather than wipes for cleaning. I keep them in a wash bag for taking out and about.

Best sippy cup is the free flowing ikea one in the frog weaning set altho they also sell them individually. Really excellent buy and v cheap.

The Tripp trapp can be used up to adulthood as a chair though also so the initial spend is def worth it

Agree with Ikea Antilop, we've got them for our twins and they're fab. SIL has just ditched her £90 padded monstrosity in favour of one!

Tripp Trapps are good, but may not last as long as you think. i had a similar thing for DS1 and once he got to about 3, he didn't want to sit in the 'baby' chair any more, so it didn't last us any longer than any other high chair really.

Tommee Tippee do a cheapo flip top lid cup that is really good. Spoons and plates are much of a muchness imho.

Phil and teds me too clips on to the table and you can fit a normal dining chair under it if you like-it's a great space saver. BUT some tables that have a lip or are glass or have one central leg are not suitable (and that's why I have the antilop at work). Mothercare sleeved bibs are soft on the outside but waterproof inside.

Any old plastic spoons but not the Tommee Tippee weaning ones, they were rubbish.Best spoons/bowls/cups I have got were super cheapo ones from Asda.
Shower curtain for floor, or if you are like me and don't want to be cleaning the shower curtain, save up all the sunday newspaper and put a few sheets under the highchair each meal. After dinner the paper goes back in the recycling.

Ikea Antilop highchair. I think it might even be £11 now. So sturdy & easy to clean.

I used little bowls with lids from Asda to store food in for dc. They can go.in the freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Any old little spoons were fine for us too.
