Going from breastmilk to cow's milk

Help!

Trying to wean 1yr old from breastmilk onto cow's milk but it's not going very well - she refuses anything more than a few sips. :-(

Trying different tactics like offering it before she's desperate for my milk.

Is it just a question of persisting?

Doesn't help that she doesn't eat much solid food as well - something else to worry about.

I'm not sure you need to substitute one for the other? I stopped BFing my DD a little older, at 15 months, but she has never had more than a few sips of cows milk (or any sort of other milk) when offered. She gets enough calcium through cheese, yogurt etc.
What are your reasons for wanting to introduce cows milk?

I guess because I want to stop breastfeeding but she's not eating much in terms of solids so am worrying about her nutrition. I know cow's milk isn't the same, obviously, but...

Hi. If she's eating little solid food, I would not put her onto cow's milk just yet--this can lead to iron deficiency. I'd either continue breastfeeding a while longer if this is at all possible for you, or introduce formula if you want to stop BF.

Yes, I fear that's what I may have to do - formula or more breastfeeding... Thank you for replies!
