hi jarm.
You just need to boil up some veggies in a pan. Wait till they are nice and soft and then use a blender to puree them.
How old is rebecca now?
i started ds2 at 25weeks and the puree isn't going down very well. BUt he will eat chunks of cooked veg.
The veg I started with are carrots, parsnips, squash, cucumber, courgette, brocolli.

hTH, these second ones jsut seem to grow so fast don't they?

hey oops - Becky is 20 weeks but she is SO ready.... she isnt giving us a minutes peace!

She has already grabbed yoghurt out of my hand twice in the last 24 hours and scoffed the lot!

any veggies are ok then? brocolli/cauliflower etc?!

God, I feel so bad for not knowing how to do this!

Boil some carrots or apple or something like until quite soft. Then use the blender to puree it. Add a bit of the cooking water to make it a slightly runnier consistency. Then you can use a little to feed Becky with and put the rest in an ice cube tray in the freezer.

I bought one of those Braun hand blender wands. It also came with a little bowl with an attachment which roughly chops things too (for a lumpier texture).

We got it years ago, and still use it every day for banana smoothies which the children have for breakfast.

Basically you just cook whatever you want and blast it into submission with the blender. It's great, because the baby can have what you have too (assuming it's a suitable thing of course). If the texture is too thick, mix in a little water or milk. You can freeze any leftovers in ice cubes or little boxes.

I would start with root veg like carrots/parsnips/swede and then move onto things like brocolli and cauliflower. Also try fruit like apples and pears.

thanks for that.... will give it all a go..... im bloody terrified of the weaning malarky - its all too messy! (And it means my "baby" is growing up!)

Doh, you lot post so fast! Sorry if I repeated what everyone else just said.

Hey don't feel bad about not knowing how to do it straight away..I didn't either. Lots of little baby recipe books out there (try the library) for ideas. I think it's suggested you try them with one flavour at a time to start with and mix them later once you know what the baby likes.

and fruit, pears and apples are good.
I would do 1 veg for 3 meals to check no reactions and then move onto another.
then after a while you can make interesting mixtures of veg- nice colours!
I won't comment on the her age! I don't want it it to go down hill from here.Sad but maybe you could try upping the milk for a while, and give her a spoon a meal times just to play with. It got me over tha hump, and then ds2 coped well for a while longer. Smile

we are just really struggling milk wise - the HV told me to up her milk, but she just wont take it!

She isnt even finishing her 7oz bottles anymore, she is having 5oz every 2 hours (thats maximum time, usually more like 1.5hrs) and she is driving me crazy!

Scary thing is, that Jessica (now 19 months) was on 3 meals a day by now because that was the advice!

J&RM, I cook up a bit saucepan of veggies once a week, then separate. I cook in some carrots, potato, sweed, when done I'll put them into batches, so some carrots on their own, some carrots with potatoes and some carrots with sweed. Then I blend them (though Evie seems to like a slightly lumpier version) and stick them into pots. I'll leave one for the following day then freeze the rest.
Best buy - in Morrisons I got a bag with 12 freezable pots in it, all teeny baby sized, for 99p, bargain!!

Easy introduction to feeding: mash banana on plate until soft and pulpy and serve. Easy to add to and eat leftovers too :) But beware possibl3e constipation if baby has too much. My dd is just 6 mths and loves to bite chunks of it off herself too.
