Weaning

I'm not sure I'm doing it right

dd is 26 weeks today, and has had solids the last couple of days, which she seems to like. The problem is that I weaned ds at 16 weeks- he is 3.5- and by now he was starting on meat, cheese, weetabix etc. He was also bottle fed, and dd is breast fed. Do I sort of fast track her through the purees (I decided not to bother with baby rice) and onto more weighty and interesting food? Do I drop any feeds- she is 2 hourly through the day. Will she want less milk? How soon should she be having solids more than once a day, as she is now? I can't believe, having done this once, that I feel a bit clueless! Any help/advice/suggestions would be gratefully received- TIA Smile

You can skip purees entirely if you like, just go straight to family food. This is called baby-led weaning, and there are a lot of threads about it here.

You can reduce how often you offer breast, when you like, once she's taking significant amounts of solids.

And you can increase her intake of food when you like.

Thanks NQC, clears up a lot of doubt for me! Have a few purees in the freezer, but will prob knock that on the head when they are gone. Smile
