Too much milk for a giant 8 month old?

My beautiful 8 month old is a 99th percentile giant. He is not fat, just very tall. He has three big meals a day and also two 8oz and two 7oz bottles of formula. Is this too much milk? Apart from breakfast and bedtime, I offer solids first so I know he gets as much solids as he wants. I always offer water in a beaker at mealtimes. Should I continue giving him these four bottles? I think I should as he seems to want them.

His meals are a good balance of nutrients. Lots of meat, fruit, veg, carb and dairy so it's not as though he is craving a particular nutrient from the milk.

I think you've answered your own question, springer! If he is eating plenty at mealtimes, then four bottles is not too much for such a big boy IMHO. I know Gina Ford says three milk feeds a day is enough at this point, but the principle here is that milk intake should not interfere with food intake.

Why do you think you need to cut out a bottle? Has someone told you you should?

Just seemed a lot but I'm not really worried. He drinks less milk at home than at nursery so I suspect they aren't giving him enough solids. Think I'll mention it tomorrow.

Another 99th centile here (both height and weight). He also has 4 bottles a day (nearly 9 months). I did, at one point, wonder if I was getting enough solids into him. Then MIL asked after doing his lunch solids 'does he have this much again at tea time' with a look of wonder on her face when I said yes. So I figured he just has a healthy appetite for both solids and milk.

Just a few weeks ago my (now) 14 month old was having 4 bottles at night.... Sometimes he sounded like a hot water bottle.

Feeling any better yet????
