my dd is 8mths and has been in nursery about a month now (taking her out soon to be a SAHM) anyway when I go to collect her they go through what she has had for lunch, now as a first time mum it might just be me but yesterday they give her spaghetti hoops (morrisons/asda own make) is this healthy coz if so i may well give them myself, I find i constantly worry about what i'm feeding her and feel guilty when she has jars, keep thinking i should be cooking up every bloody recipe in the annable karmel book that i bought but realistically who has the time even if I am at home, they also give her quiche and im itching to ask if it was homemade Grin i'm probably being daft hey ho

Yes i'm with Starlover. My dd does have baby jars at times but food like you describe at 8 months, as Starlover says will have salt in.

well when they mentioned spag hoops alarm bells rang, however when you put your baby into nursery you trust them and they did go on about how they have a fantastic healthy menu so I then thought well it must be ok (not worth saying ought tho coz dd comes out end of the month), if dd does have jars its usually hipp organic ones but i'm trying to get into the habit of cooking and freezing meals for her

My dd1 is nearly 17 months and has been at nursery from 10 months. I wouldn't have been happy with the food you describe at 8 months.

Dd1 isn't vegetarian but I said I wanted her to have a veggie diet at Nursery as I thought the quality of any meat they gave her wouldn't be top quality as a prime motive of any Nursery is to make a profit etc (obviously didn't say this to the Nursery).

The Nursery has a cook on site and they do cook from scratch, dd2 occasionally has things like spagetti hoops - but rarely. As she is over 1, I am more realxed about what she eats - although I do bulk cook and freeze aka Annabel Karmel - don't have the time to cook on demand. Grin

I'm sure there are lots of Nurseries out there that serve 'crappy' food - this was something that I looked into before deciding which nursery to send dd1 to. Smile

At 8 months old spaghetti hoops is very unhealthy, and I wouldn't be too happy about the quiche either. I very much doubt it was homemade.

My dd was in nursery at 8 months and they only fed her Hipp Organic jars, I would have been mortified if they'd fed her Spag hoops at that age.

Then again i was mortified when dh insisted on buying some for himself the other day.

I wouldn't be happy either at 8m. Can you take your own food? This is primarily what parents at our nursery do (DD due to start in a couple of months - eek), though you can pay for their own food instead.
