Having a couple of days break away from the children (yay!!) in cambridge. have been several times before, so have done most of the usual touristy stuff. just wondered if anyone could suggest something a bit different? we're travelling by train, so need something walk/train-able. thanks.

Try Kettles Yard. Its a house/gallery full of lovely art with a gorgeous interior

Botanic Gardens also lovely.

Kettle's Yard is lovely; small art gallery that used to be a house. Also, I think Hotel du Vin has just opened there, if you're looking for somewhere nice to stay.

I think the pebble thing could be genetic; my toddler is slightly obsessed with them !

Another idea, tho not sure if it counts as usual touristy, would be the Fitzwilliam Museum.

Walk/punt up to Grantchester and spend the afternoon in the THe Orchard having cake and coffee?

cinema/swim would be great things to do without children (although pools in Cambridge are pretty avarage IMHO)
also Arts theatre
there is usually some commercial group doing Shakespeare in college gardens if you like that sort of thing
