DF is going to an offroad meet in Hampshire, breaking our previous plans of a romantic/wacky festival weekend. I have agreed to this PROVIDING we go somewhere nice/different/wacky to spend some time together on the Sunday Night/Monday daytime. This will fall on Sunday 9th September.
I can only think of a night at Alton Towers with restaurant and bar etc, then on to the rides on the Monday.
My imagination has disappeared with my Sanity over the first half of the Summer Holidays... Does anyone have any ideas?
My Budget is between £100 and £200 but £200 is my ABSOLUTE kicking-and-screaming budget.
HHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPP!
Thank you in advance, you wonderful MNers

Alton Towers is a bit far from Hampshire - did you want something near the offroad meet, or just something different?

Oooops! Really? I assumed it was in Alton!
I feel Reeeaaaaally silly now... on to answering Q.s..
No, we wont have DS with us. Something nearish to the offroad meet would be good, which is in Hampshire
Im going to have to cancel my unpaid reservation at Alton Towers now arent i?

CD an offroad meet is where my DF justifies why his Work Vehicle (a Vauxhall Frontera) is also a good hobby by almost breaking it by maneuvering it over lumps and bumps at a military site.
Its his lazy version of a 'sport'

cant you go to chessington or thorpe park instead?

Report
CountessDracula · 16/08/2007 15:29

i would say Thorpe Park would be your best bet

Hampshire is rather devoid of that sort of thing

It is a possibility. I have just been trying to rack my brain for 'something else' Im not sure really what to do.. I dont want to do a 'traditional dinner and B&B' if you get my drift, im not talking about a bungee jump or anything.. .. just something a little out-of-the-ordinary
Im complicated, arent i?

I'm in Hampshire - just give me the £100 and stay here

was going to suggest Isle of Wight or Marwell but CD had the same idea!
Paultons Park is the only one I can think of in Hampshire - so Chessington or Thorpe park are your best bets.
Are there any activities that you would love to do - water ski-ing / pony trekking etc as you have the New Forest and lots of boating / water sports available.

Hahaha, Isle of Wight? My number one rule is it CANT be on the Island... as we live here
But it would of made for a great idea..
I love the idea off a horse ride or something.. that would be good. Is there anywhere good to stay in that sort of area? Between Bordon and Isle of Wight and say.. an hour off course or so in any direction? I get the feeling this is going to take a lot of thought.. SORRY!!!!
Loving the ideas though, am grateful for them, and more.. Its bringing my brain back to life slowly

www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~burleyv/

not heard of them before but they seem to do a few packages, with or without B&B so you could find your own.

if you could stretch to £260 there is a riding break including b&b here

Those links are pretty great!
Cant really stretch to £260 but we could stay at a cheapy travelodge or something and then go for a ride on the Monday. It looks so beautiful! Ooh the possibilities
I might just have a wander around google and see if i can see anything else we could do on the day, or something.
You guys are great.
Cheers
If you think of any other ideas feel free to chuck 'em my way, i really appreciate it.

The Four Seasons in Hampshire do great deals on Sunday night for £150 (usually about double this) - dead swanky hotel with good spa etc But you will end up paying for breakfast, supper etc

Still very plush and very nice

Forgot to add that the Four Seasons Hotel has its own horses...
