Fabulous hotel in Bristol for romantic and child-free weekend

Dh has suggested the Hotel du Vin, but their website doesn't give much away. Is this the best hotel in Bristol?
Would prefer boutiquey (but not too cool) rather than chintzy, and we want to be very central.

Hotel du Vin definitely isn't chintzy. Haven't been to the Bristol one, but have been to several others and they're very good.

Love it! Go for the split level suite on the website. Fab - big bedroom area with comfy chairs etc, downstairs loo. Then up stairs to bathroom with mahoosive shower and 2 roll top baths side by side and a chaise longue.

We loved it ...........

Thanks for that. Hotel du Vin it is! Just need to persuade dh that it is worth paying extra for a suite.

Yes, it is best hotel in Bristol, absolutely.
Beds are huge, showers are huge, lovely. I've stayed in The Brigstow and The Marriott, nowhere near as good. Trust me, go!

They are fully booked for the weekend we want to go.
Nowhere else in Bristol really grabs us.
Plan B is Cornwall.....

It is such a shame because in all other ways Bristol is a great location, the hotels are just so crappy though
