She says with fingers crossed secretly hoping that the weather will improve in a few weeks ......pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssseeeeeee!

We're going to Torbay and would really like to have a couple of rain free days. It is not too much to ask, is it, especially as it is July?

I've got my fingers crossed, my legs, my arms...in fact anything I can cross I'm crossing!! We're going on our first camping holiday with our two kids (8 & 3) on the 21 July to Dartmoor......dh & I have been camping before but years ago and pre-children... with the weather we're having at the moment we'll be lucky to even get the tent up! Oh dear.....

I'm just back from 3 weeks in South Devon and I can honestly say that apart from 3 days in total we managed to get to the beach every day for at least 3 hours - usually about 4 - 5 hours .... DD, DH and the mutt went swimming in the sea on each of these days ..... So don't worry - it'll be lovely for you !!

Sounds like you had a great time Yeahinaminute.

I don't mind if we have rain just as long as we can have a 3 or 4 hour dry stretch.

Barney2, good luck with the camping. We are hoping to take our DTS next year when they will be 4yo and we can reason with them more.

Oh we did - I had to be prised out of the cottage last Saturday to come home !!

Well on the days it's truly horrid (which you won't have!)you could take the dc's to Crealy or Pennywell Farm - bit of a hike in the car but sort of worth it for the fun they'll have !!!!

Failing that dress up in waterproofs and go for a bloody good walk !!

I'm hoping for good weather on the 21st too as BIL is getting married and they are all camping in a field in the village on the wedding night (We have booked into a nearby b&b lol)

Somehow I think it'll be a wet holiday for us. Judging by the torrential rain and very strong winds we've had, for what feels like an eternity, I doubt very much it'll be a heatwave when we go on the 21st....not fair....we spend all year looking forward to a week away of no housework, no phones, no having to be out the door by a set time, no work...etc etc only to spend a week under canvas, freezing cold, pouring rain and mud everywhere. Great! (Let's hope I'll be wrong!)
