how do i go about it?

are they cheap and is there any way to make them cheaper?

are there big companies like eurocamp who do deals in september?

we are not tied to school holidays really atm so can do any time

i can't get my head around it all, we want an astronomically cheap holiday in september, somehwere where rain is unlikely. would normally camp but ds is utterly desperate to go and stay in a caravan

Just go to your travel agents and get some brocures for Holiday parks in the area you want.

If you go out of peak time it will be cheaper but some local attractions may be closed, we managed to find alot of things to do out of peak time though.

You can get some really cheap deals if you speak to a travel agent. [smaile]

Choose a region you want to go to, and find the local tourist site for that area: ie the visit wales site

Have a look on there for suitable caravans ...

Alternatively, there is a lovely campsite with statics here

I've heard good things about brittany ferries holidays too ...

have fun!

hey fillyjonk, dds wanted to stay in a caravan so we stayed here at the bryn gloch site right near Snowdonia

nothing on the site, one small shop so fab for us as we don't like nightlife stuff [shudder]

but the other week we went Greenacres which is a Haven Holidays thing, caravan was fab, right on the beach BUT it has a huge entertainment thing etc so not really our cup of tea.

try leisure direction if you want to go to France, as they do cheap deals with keycamp among others.

260 euros, yep, thats the sort of price i was thinking

just looked at "cheap deals" with eurocamp and had a heart attack

am toying with idea of france now. oooh if we could stretch to that it would be well cool, we haven't been abroad (or in fact, on holiday bar camping/grandparents) since 2004 when dp's work junket rules changed

but olive i really like the look of the snowdonia one ALSO but am suprised at cost.

I think problem for us is that we are getting overkill in terms of facilies, which is pushing the price well up. I have discussed this matter now with PIL, seasoned caravaners, and it seems that what would suit us is actually a touring caravan in one spot, wheras the statics seem like houses on wheels . I honestly don't need an indoor table tennis room .

the snowdonia one is lovely

river on the site to moooch about, little playground

no horrible people

phone him up and get a quote, we stayed for just the weekend so he could do a deal

you can then drive down to Portmadoch (not far) and go on the lovely beach - Black Sands - that is the near the Haven site

oh and i love snowdonia, we've ended up going there in some form or another several times a year. our last actual holiday was in beddgelert, which despite being touristy, is LOVELY, just perfect for a small family holiday.

(there was a rather fabulous period where my work kept sending me on conferances there, which was rather kind of them...)
