We are going on a no-kids weekend to Penrith in August, can anyone recommend things to do/things to avoid? Any tips?
Thanks

Turn your back on the Lakes, which will be crowded in August and enjoy the Eden Valley.

I went there with dh last year- A short drive away theres a nice place called pooley bridge with a few pubs. Also ullswater steamers run on the lake at that time of year which take you to a little town called hoetown (think thats what its called!!). There's a large waterfall in the area which is lovey for a walk, if you like that sort of thing -sorry can't remember what that's called.

We're compiling a list of things to do so I'll make sure Pooley Bridge and Lowther Park are on it!
Thanks
