There are some lovely cottages in Bourton on the Water that Star recommended back in 2002, that I have kept in the back of my mind.

Tried to search, but Star had most of her messages deleted! But then found another mention of them

It is www.cotswoldcottagecompany.co.uk.

Having clicked on it, they said they were doing some renovations, but I don't know hold old that message is, and when you want to go. So phone and ask.

Some other mumsnetters had stayed there too and really enjoyed it. Its bang in the centre of the village, really idyllic. (unless itst August of course. Don't think Cotsolds/Idyllic/August go particularly well together!

Try Sudeley Castle cottages - do a google - dh and I had some lovely stays there. They are in Winchcombe so very convenient for everywhere you want to be near to. If you don't mind being further south Owlpen Manor is stunning, but a bit further to go to the main hotspots ike Bourton and Stow.

Rhubarb - well, it's not cheap as you can see. BUT I have yet to stay in any other UK holday cottage that matches the loveliness of those places. There isn't a huge amount to do within walking distance of Bruern but there are lovely gardens and things for the kids such as wendy house, games room etc. Plus they've just opened a spa. My description sounds a bit Centre Parcs - it's not like that at all (nothing wrong w/CP, never been, just Bruern's prob much quieter and more private).

They used to do a last minute 30% off discount if you waited until the last 72 hours before departure. If you go mid-week and off-peak they seem quite quiet and I would imagine you could get a discount then. During half term/ holdays it's prob not so easy. I suggest you email tham to find out.

Blimey WWW! I did't realise you'd won the holiday - how fantastic!

Explains why your shopping list was expensive , can just imagine you munching on your seafood and cava combo in that place!

Glad you has a good time, sounds fab.
