anyone know a cosy cottage in south devon that won't be depressing in winter?

For various reasons, we will be staying in South Devon for two nights between Xmas and New Year's Eve, and the only places I've found are slightly depressing b&bs. Does anyone know a cheery b&b or hotel, that would be good for a baby? Near Paignton or Torbay? Just want something welcoming and warm. Thank you

It's in Dartmouth, mind you, do you want to be that side of the river? Or might it be nice to stay to ils 'we've got to get the last ferry'?

I would have thought most places would be fully booked by now.

A lot of people seem to reserve accomodation very early on these days. (am still getting used to myself bwW)

oh dart marina looks wonderful, but I think its too far. I don't know Devon at all really - we want to visit a friend of dh in Torbay who is going through a rough time and don't think we want to spend all our time driving back and forth.I love Plymouth -went to the most amazing firework display there a few years ago.
