we are going to london in december for two weeks for physio for dd

she will miss all kinds of malarkey inc school nativity and dance class sharing etc etc etc and I was hoping to make it a really nice fortnight to make up for all that

we are looking for nice things to do (she'll be 6, dd2 is nearly 2) to fill the rest of our days and wondered if there was anything special since it will be nearly xmas?

we stay in North London and usually have half the day free during the week; we usually do science museum, discover centre, swimming, british museum

also would be nice to find somewhere to chill out since we stay in a really tiny little bedsit with nowhere really to kick back

as disabled accessible as possible!

any ideas?

We found a trip to Hamleys in December really good. DS was 3.5 at the time and he looked at all the toys as well as seeing Father Christmas - and we didn't buy anything!

You could try Kew Gardens, it's south west but easy to get to. They have lots of space, an indoor play centre for kids, they have a little train thing which goes around the gardens which has disabled access, the food centres are really good and all have disabled access. There is also an ice rink in december if the growns up fancy a little bit of fun.

Ice skating at Somerset House . You need to book well in advance for some sessions.

Tate Modern is fun - and has coffee shops further up and you can watch things go by on the river.

Look on the websites for various children's theatres, or theatres with children's shows at that time - Polka, Half Moon, Lyric hammersmith, Arts Depot in Barnet, Unicorn thetare for Children (by London bridge) all have good suff, and will be disabled accessible. All have websites. SAdlers Wells and Soho Theatre also have good access and someimes do Xmas children's shows. there will be weekday shows for schools that you cold go to, as well as weekend performances.

If the weather is nice, Battersea Zoo has recently been refurbished and could be worth a look. Given the recency of the re-model I am sure it is very accessible for DDA purposes.
Sounds like you have many of my usual suspects already on the list, but she might enjoy the costume galleries at the V & A as well as the British Museum
