Hi
I've recently had two lots of abdominal surgery and we are meant to be going away in two weeks. I feel rough at the moment but surgeon says I should be ok to go if I take it easy.

We are getting a sleeper train and will be in St Ives at 8.30am. Holiday house not ready until 3pm. Any suggestions on where to go all day where I can clutch my belly and wait? I was thinking maybe the cinema. Thanks.

I would go and sit on Porthminister Beach for the day, or go one stop up the branch line to Carbis Bay (takes 3 mins) and sit in the Carbis Bay Hotel for a nice drink and then on Carbis Bay beach for the day as it's quieter.

Corbis bay is lovely. Nice beach and second the pp who mentioned the Corbin bay hotel. Treat yourself to lunch and some nice drinks there - v nice. Enjoy yourself and recover well Thanks

Agree, Porthminster Beach if it's dry, and the Cafe once it opens.

Primrose Valley Hotel is right by Porthminster Beach and very helpful and friendly if you're staying there and arrive on the sleeper, but I'm not sure if it will do non-residents. Worth a call to check though, as it's spitting distance from the St Ives station.

Also a gentle reminder not to tough it out hauling bags and walking great distances. This is why cabs exist. You don't want to over-exert yourself getting there and then spend the holiday in bed.

Get some breakfast and then St ives harbour hotel at 10am. £59 for a spa day that includes 25min treatment, such as nails or facial and a 2 course lunch. Lovely terrace with loungers and sea view. It may eat into your holiday money but a great way to start the holiday chilled!

Of course if beautiful weather just make yourself comfortable on beach.

There is a library too.

Definitely phone who you are renting from and explain situation, you may be able to get in early, especially if they are cleaning your cottage first.
