Hi all,

Hoping to do a mini road trip during August from Norfolk, along the south coast towards Devon/Cornwall, then back through the middle. Hoping to mix staying with family and cheapo Travelodge rooms. Just me and 4yo DD. Peppa Pig World is on the to-do list. Any other must-sees/dos?

Beaconsfield Miniature Village - (lots of tiny houses etc) just off the M40 is just magical - and may I say good for you for embarking on a big trip like this - to give you courage I am a single mum of four year old twins and with in the cast couple of months I have taken them on a 11 hour flights to LA (air miles from friends) and been to the Cornbury festival (totally fab by the way) - all on my own with jut them - have found that when its just them and me I am less stressed because I don't have to worry about other people - being stressed out by the inevitable tired tantrums or the tuts that come our way when the any thing that is called for is bribery of ice creams - we also like The British museum and The Natural History museum but they will be mobbed by Italian/FRench tourists in the summer holidays unless you are willing to wait by the does when they they are open -

WE are going to St Ives Cornwall) on FRiday - an annual trip - the hotels are very expensive in the town - hence why we are going with grandad who is paying but if you stay at the TRavel LOdge at Hayle (or the cheaper Carbis Bay) - you can walk along to St ives from Carbis Bay or take the cutest train ride from Hayle - right into the town centre - try not to drive too much in Cornwall on a FRiday or Saturday everyone changes rooms on those days and the roads are horrific with jams - Also St JUst in Roseland - on the Roseland peninsular is soooo beautiful - enjoy!!!!!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm okay for courage, Roselover - took her to Australia on my own last year - real confidence boost - made me feel like I could take on the world after a 36hr journey with a 3yr old! Twins must be manic though :-)

Second Giffords Circus and Bristol zoo. How about a castle - Corfe, Bodiam or Warwick? Eden Project?
