Dawlish or Teignmouth?

We are driving from London to Cornwall in August and fancied staying one night in either Dawlish or Teignmouth on the way. Which would you recommend? And can you recommend a b&b or hotel in either place?

Either are lovely so you must visit both! It depends what you are into, I stayed in a caravan park in Dawlish, there are quite a few there so I was in a very touristy area. Teignmouth has a small quiet sort of town and seafront. My parents always stay there (my mums side of family is from there) but I've not stayed in an hotel there myself.

I agree - both are lovely! I recommend the Cliffden hotel in Teignmouth. It was set up for visually impaired people with guide dogs but anyone can stay there. A lovely old country house with good food, beautiful grounds and nice quiet swimming pool.

Thank you Buddles and Mouseymum. Cliffden Hotel looks great but sadly booked for the dates we wanted!
