We're going to South Yorkshire in August for a holiday - have DD age 13, DS x 2 age 11 and DH.
Anyone recommend days out, places of interest? Family dog coming too! Any suggestions welcomed ??

Peak District is beautiful. Your 13 yo will probably enjoy a day at meadowhall. Magna is great. My kids are about the same age as yours and love it. Yorkshire sculpture park is gorgeous for a day out. Yorkshire wildlife park is good too.

South Yorkshire is nice and central for a few places depending on what you're all into.

Chatsworth too if stately homes are your thing. It's one if the best in the country.

I agree that magna is a good day out, as well as the museum, there is an outdoor play area and waterpark.
Clumber Park, just off the A1 in Notts is nice, National Trust, a great place for a picnic, you can hire bikes. Dog friendly too.
The dome in doncaster has a pool (with flumes and outdoor lazy river type thing). Also has an ice rink.
Clifton Park in Rotherham has playareas, a funfair, crazy golf, paddling pool and a museum.
If you want to go to the coast, you can get to Mablethorpe, Skegness, Cleethorpes, Withernsea and the North Yorkshire towns of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough.

Never a dull moment in South Yorkshire.

Agree with lots above except Magna. Seriously overpriced & not great.

In Bradford there is the National Media Museum.

I'm not a fan of Magna either, but load of DD's friends really rate it.
